Paid To Play Games - Is There Any Truth To It?

Are there gamers who seriously get paid to play video games? Or, could it be that it is just a big fat lie which happens to serve zero purpose? In truth, gamers can and are getting money to play & enjoy new video game titles each day. Though, the term "play" ordinarily loses a good sized portion of it's meaning in regards to this type of job.

Among the major misguided beliefs concerning testing game titles for pay is that it's extremely simple and loads of non-stop fun. You're free to plop down on your rear-end, get comfortable, have fun with awesome new video game titles, and then collect a great big check when you're finished. Such a thing would surely be an incredible job; but unfortunately, it's not how it really works. As opposed to trying to play a video game for fun -- be it on an xbox 360, playstation 3, Wii, or even a PC -- you'll be "testing & evaluating" different games as part of an overall task.

You didn't misread anything, professional video game testers aren't given bundles & bundles of cash to have hours & hours of fun playing amazing, new video games -- they're paid to test and evaluate new game titles for game companies. That is all.

The most typical reaction to the above is "what's the difference between playing a video-game and testing one?" Well, it's simple really. Any time you play a game, you explore & "beat" a level and proceed on to the next one. Whenever you test a videogame, you explore & conquer an area after which you'll RESTART that area and play it again. You don't do this once, twice, or even three times. You do this repeatedly right up until you have uncovered every one of the game breaking glitches & bugs inside of that level. This may mean grinding out a certain part of a game a few dozen times, if not MORE, to ensure you have located all possible problems. Does that seem like a "fun job" to you? I'm going to go out on a ledge and say PROBABLY NOT!

Do not get the wrong idea. Video game testers can and do have fun doing testing assignments -- it's just that the fun is not as much as many individuals think it is. As opposed to drinking soda, eating pizza, and spending time with buddies playing great new gaming titles, beta testers are in truth doing their best to make games better.

When you're a gamer and desire to earn money playing video games, then a job as a video game tester is exactly what you have been looking for. Not only will it fulfill your cash flow desires, but you may very well fall into a highly profitable career in the process!
