This one of a kind experiment began more than ten years ago, and it was found that the original test subjects actually maintained those successful results for 4 years after the trial was completed. The 1mg of finasteride was marketed under the brand name, Propecia.

A further result of consuming propecia, is that it affects the levels of testosterone in the body, and hence is available only on prescription. The advice of a physician must be asked for and the suggested dosage followed exactly. Hormonal balances can be fragile and maintaining a regular dosage helps to ensure stability.

The loss of hair might not be a signal that you should commence taking the hair loss pill straight away. There is a natural three stage process of hair loss and regeneration that sometimes, can be literally shocked into a premature hair loss stage. This apparently spontaneous shedding, also called Telegen Effluvium, is not a permanent condition and often leads to replacement hair growth.

Propecia treatment is an extremely gradual process and demands patience on the part of the user. One should not expect results for about three months, with typical regrowth not showing until the 8th month. Maximum results do not appear until at least a year after the beginning of the treatment.
