A Ninth Grade Male Student Drinks Excessively With His Cronies, Almost Dies From Alcohol Poisoning, And Learns That Paying Attention In Class Can Change Your Life Andy was a ninth grader who frequently seemed to be living on the edge. Andy had a daring personality and usually wanted to do what his older brothers were doing to have fun. The underlying difficulty with this was that all three of his brothers were at least 21 years old and were as a consequence legally able to drive a vehicle and to ingest alcohol.
Andy, conversely, had a difficult time realizing the fact that as a fifteen-year-old youth he should not be drinking. In fact, then again, Andy frequently drank with his buddies after school, particularly on the weekends.
One weekend, Andy made up his mind to drive around with some of his older pals. One of his buddies was old enough to purchase alcohol. After buying some wine, beer, and wine coolers, Andy and all of his cronies went to a recreational area and drank for around two hours.
After drinking more or less eight bottles of beer, Andy started to feel queasy and then threw up. When he passed out on the tennis court, one of his friends called 911 for assistance. It was fortunate that the call for medical help was made because when his friends went to the hospital to see Andy, they found out that Andy had been showing evidence of alcohol poisoning symptoms. To be more specific, Andy had experienced an alcohol overdose.
After getting alcohol poisoning treatment, Andy was quite surprised to learn that he had overdosed on alcohol because he "only" had more or less five or ten alcoholic beverages. When he explained this to the attending healthcare practitioner at the hospital, in spite of this, the doctor notified Andy that drinking five or ten cans of beer over a two or three hour period of time could in reality be quite a bit more alcohol than can be metabolized by the body. The physician further verbalized how significant amounts of alcohol can cause the brain to shut down a person's breathing and that when this takes place, a person can expire.
This was the first word of warning to Andy that he was drinking in a harmful manner and that there are repercussions deeds. The doctor told Andy that he was a fortunate young man because he almost died from an alcohol overdose the previous night.
The healthcare practitioner also talked to Andy's parents and suggested that they get alcohol therapy for Andy. His parents were ecstatic that Andy was safe and notified the doctor that they would follow through on getting Andy alcohol therapy.
While conversing with his parents, Andy informed them that there must be a good reason why he did not expire and that he was grateful that he was still alive. He also told his parents that the odd part about the entire drinking episode was that he had learned about alcohol poisoning the past week at school.
At the time, what his health instructor, Mr. Johnson, was teaching didn't seem to make too much sense to Andy. Due to the fact that he almost passed away, on the other hand, he felt that he should have listened more attentively in class and applied what he had learned to his personal life.
Andy told his parents that he couldn't wait to go back to Mr. Johnson's classroom and express regret to Mr. Johnson for not paying closer attention to a subject that was as noteworthy as learning about alcohol poisoning.
