A Married Couple Becomes Troubled About Their Hazardous And Abusive Drinking And Asks Themselves If They Manifest Any Alcohol Dependency Signs

Angie and Lenny have been married for nine years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they made up their minds to have a family and so they consciously constructed an incredibly dynamic social life.

The main problem, it needs to be stressed, is that virtually everything they do for excitement has something to do with drinking. For instance, all of the happy hours, sporting events, family get-togethers, parties with friends, and dinner engagements they frequent have something to do with drinking.

If they were responsible drinkers this wouldn't be a major problem. Given the fact that they drink quite abusively, nonetheless, they are starting to notice some instantly noticeable alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For instance, just five days ago Lenny received a third DUI and has been ignoring responsibilities at work due to alcohol-related health problems. What is more, Lenny's last two performance evaluations at work have been less than creditable and he has started to fail to recall what he does or says the times that he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family has begun to get nervous about his drinking activities.

In a similar way, Angie has been feeling depressed with life and to deal with these feelings, she has been drinking more frequently than any time in the past six months. Moreover, Angie has been experiencing quite a few migraine headaches and having terrible hangovers because of her drinking. Finally, Angie has been feeling appreciably less energetic in the morning, she has been getting to work late almost every Monday, and she has been receiving some well-deserved criticism from her coworkers, relatives, friends, and family members about her careless drinking.

One Sunday evening while watching TV, Angie and Lenny inadvertently discovered a TV special about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This television program was a real surprise to Lenny and Angie because quite a few of the alcohol facts that were gone over looked as if they were unwaveringly associated with many of the drinking problems Lenny and Angie had been going through.

With thoughts of the TV documentary still fresh in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been exhibiting could mean that they are addicted to alcohol or conceivably becoming alcohol dependent. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the therapists at the nearby alcohol abuse treatment clinic to find out more about the severity of their drinking difficulties.

Paradoxically, even though their drinking circumstances hadn't yet changed, it was apparent that Lenny and Angie were at least addressing their drinking difficulties, they were ready to find out more about their drinking behavior, and they were interested in finding out how they could significantly cut down the severity or eliminate the drinking-related problems that had started to deteriorate even further.

When Lenny and Angie went to bed that evening, they arrived at a decision that the next afternoon, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the alcohol rehab center located in the middle of town. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to conquer the alcohol-related difficulties that had cropped up in their lives, they truly had the best night's sleep they could think of in the last month.
